I have spent many hours scouring the web, trying desperately to find free broadcasts of live TV. In my wanderings, I stumbled on Hulu and enjoy frequenting the service often. Hulu is a site/service that has made agreements with Hollywood, to allow re”broadcasts” of both TV shows and select movies.
The site has a fairly wide selection of both classic and current televisions shows. The best part of these shows is the fact that there are minimal interruptions of only three or four 30 sec. commercials. The TV selection ranges from shows the likes of Heroes and 30 Rock, to classics like Starsky & Hutch and I Spy. Not all shows have all episodes listed, and some listings only include clips. Show genres include talk shows, cartoons and sporting events.
The movie choices range in a similar time frame (1960’s to present), with many genres and rating levels. Rated “R” movies require logging in, and signing up for a user account is free. Some movies also have limited 30 sec. commercials, but some only have an initial advertisement/preview for an upcoming movie release with no further interruptions!
Some shows and movies are available in “hi-res” 480p audio and video, while others are only shown in 360p. The pop-up feature also allows for the movie to be shown in a separate window, for convenient viewing on a secondary monitor if one is connected to your system. This gives the advantage of watching while working!
