Zachary Quinto, Heroes and Star Trek XI star

I have been eagerly awaiting this new prequel to be released. Of course, Paramount has decided to push the release date back to May 8, 2009 to relieve the pressures of a holiday release. But until then, I have a teaser trailer here and a few choice notes and images of my favorite TOS character – Mr. Spock.

I have loved the Heroes TV series for both of its seasons. Albeit season two had a few bumps and a little confusion in spots, I still enjoyed the Sylar character as the villain and main focus of the series. Now that season three is upon us (starting tonight at 9PM), I am hoping to see that the down time created by the writer’s strike was time well spent in character development for the new season. The break from the show has also made it possible for Zachary Quinto (Sylar) to be the quintessential choice for portraying a young Mr. Spock in the upcoming Star Trek XI.

A young Mr. Spock

Quinto gets a great role model on the set as Leonard Nimoy will also be involved in the movie as an aging version of Spock. But hold your horses, there will also be an adolescent version of Spock being played by Jacob Kogan. So that makes for three Spocks in one movie!

There will also be two versions of Kirk being portrayed in the film, but no purposed cameo by William Shatner (bummer). This is to be expected as, if any true Trekkie will remember, Kirk died on-screen in Star Trek Generations (ST7). J.J. Abrams (director of ST11) has plainly stated that a part was written for Shatner, but it didn’t flow very well and “Bill has clearly said he doesn’t want to be in it”.
