You may be wondering how we began this business and when. The best way to tell it is to start at the beginning of what matters and this will explain why Allentown Tables does business the way it does.

Allentown Tables is the brainchild and subsidiary of Mike Kemp L.L.C. After graduating high school, Mike was employed by a friend in the floor covering industry. After a few years of being an employee, he realised there was a greater potential if he were to break away from his employer and take on some work of his own. With the help of some friends in the business, he began M&K Carpeting. Always looking to grow his income and his business, Mike entered the commercial world of floor covering. No longer restricted to just carpeting homes, he was working in corporate buildings, hotels, and the like. One of his greatest ventures was tying into a building company. His business was small enough to stay profitable and big enough to be marketable.

In the middle of 2003, Mike was in the market for a pool table. He and his wife went shopping. After looking around and realizing the outrageous prices of local retailers, he had nearly given up hope on finding something in his price range. They decided to take a stab at looking on the Internet, as a last ditch effort. They were surprised to find an exceptional deal at an online auction site and decided to go for it. They didn't really expect to get the item, when so many tables were going for much higher than what they were prepared to spend. Once they had actually won the table, they contacted the company that was selling it. After discussing shipping options, Mike offered to pick up the table himself since he had lived in the town where this company was located. The seller said that their company policy only allowed pick-up if the transporting vehicle was large enough to handle the weight. Obviously, years of floor covering demanded that M&K Carpeting had to have vehicles that could carry the weight of large amounts of flooring. With this obstacle crossed, Mike brought his table home and contracted a local installer to set it up. The holiday season brought many friends, family and co-workers to his home and everyone loved the pool table so much, that he called the company and asked about selling them to his contacts. After about three trips out to the parent company's facility, talk began of getting serious about it as a business. Sticking to friends and family, Mike has been able to build an internet presence and be successful in the home entertainment industry. He still owns and manages M&K Carpeting, but Allentown Tables has taken priority. Our growth has been beyond compare, including national television exposure with TLC(The Learning Channel), print media with Calvin Klein(magazine advertising) and VIP experience with the owner of the N.J. Devils and David Akers, place kicker for the Philadelphia Eagles!

With 18 years experience in the service industry, Mike knows what it takes to be successful, approachable and to have integrity. Don't be surprised if he answers your email, or phone call, or even delivers your purchase! He likes to be one on one with customers and he also likes to get out of doing office work.
