2008 Football, week 5 surprises

Well, it’s honestly no surprise that the St. Louis Rams decided to can head coach Scott Linehan in favor of Defensive Coordinator (2006-2008), Jim Haslett. The newly appointed interim head coach has a proven track record of improving the teams he’s worked for, which include the New Orleans Saints (Head Coach, 2000-2005) and the Pittsburgh Steelers (Defensive Coordinator, 1997-1999). Let’s hope he can create some magic for the “Lamest Show on Turf”. There was a slight return to intelligent thinking on the part of the coaching staff, by the overwhelming agreement on the reinstatement of Marc Bulger as the starting QB for week 6. Week 6 will also see a return for wide receivers Dante Hall and Dane Looker, who has recovered from the concussion he was handed in week 4. There can only be a brighter future on the horizon for the Rams’ 2008 season at this point.

Fantasy Football 2008, week 3

My league, Pennsylvania Football Federation, is off to a great start for just about everyone. We are hosted with NFL.com and the Q.C. Outlaws have improved to 1-1 and a somewhat promising third week is about to open. My starting lineup is as follows:

  • Eli Manning – QB
  • Steven Jackson – RB
  • Ahmad Bradshaw – RB2
  • Torry Holt – WR1
  • Isaac Bruce – WR2
  • Santonio Holmes – WR3
  • Anthony Fasano – TE
  • Matt Prater – K
  • NY Giants – D/ST

Reserves:

  • Marc Bulger – QB
  • Ricky Williams – RB
  • Derrick Mason – WR
  • Dallas Clark – TE
  • The Steelers – D/ST

It may not be the prettiest team imaginable, but they are scoring well with a hammering loss in week 1 (-37 pts) to Mike Kemp’s Heavy Hittin’ Birds and a near blowout this past week (+17 pts) of Tim Colbert’s Spartans.

Isaac Bruce rips it up!

Fantasy Football 2008 is here!

Well it’s that time of year again! Football season is upon us and after 4 weeks of preseason doldrums and the opening weekend of the 2008 season, there’s no shortage of drama. This includes on the field and off the field action, as well as fantasy news, injury reports and who’s who for this years’ broadcaster limelight.

To start off with, this is my third season of fantasy football and my second as League President of the Pennsylvania Football Federation. We cater to anyone that loves the game, who will be active each week with roster changes and of course, Steeler Nation members! We have no apparent shortage of those either this year, with myself (Queen City Outlaws), A-Town Fallen, Steeler Gal and PITTSBURGH STEELERS. There’s also an Eagles fanatic (HeavyHittin Birds), and a few odds and ends like the Slatington Slugs and Dillsburg Pickles – Ya gotta love that one!

Next up, are the week one injuries! Holy cow, who would have thought that Tom Brady would be out in the first 15 minutes of the regular season?! But that’s not all, Nate Burleson, Drew Bennett and even Vince Young (of the more notable injuries) are out for either a month or the season!

As of week 1, my Outlaws are off to a killer 0-1 start. I plan on having a much better turn out for week 2!

My Steelers Defense broke the Texans in week 1, baby!
